City officials are putting together a four-point program to keep customers in downtown stores during two upcoming construction projects. The key element of the plan, however, is that it’s not finished.
“Every new project brings new opportunities for growth and improvement,” said Recreation Director Bruce Pinkall, who is organizing the Together We Create Progress campaign. “No matter how hard we try conceiving the perfect plan a better idea may still be out there. This is just a place to start.”
Together We Create Progress will begin with the first of the four points of the plan — a media campaign involving the Tribune, KWCH 12, KMMM and other radio stations.
“This will be focused on brining visitors to our downtown area,” Pinkall said. “We may be under construction but we still have something for you.”
A water main replacement under South Main in June and the resurfacing of the same six blocks of Main next spring will disrupt sidewalks and traffic, but plans for alternate parking and access are already well along, Pinkall said.

The other three points of the plan focus on marketing opportunities at Green Sports Complex.

2. Businesses can attract more customers with help assistance from Travel and Tourism via 8 foot banners displayed during the busy April through October season at Green Sports Complex.
3. An information kiosk at Green will allow visitors to search Internet-style for shopping, eating and lodging opportunities in Pratt.
4. Businesses will be encouraged to submit short, one-line messages that will be read from the press box at games and tournaments at Green.
