Maxine Etta Phye, 88, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010 at Pratt Rehabilitation and Residence Center in Pratt. She was born April 30, 1922, in Waldron, the daughter of Dorsey and Lilly Ford Waggoner.    


Maxine Etta Phye, 88, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010 at Pratt Rehabilitation and Residence Center in Pratt. She was born April 30, 1922, in Waldron, the daughter of Dorsey and Lilly Ford Waggoner.    

She was a homemaker and worked as a housekeeper in Pratt for a nursing home. She was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church in Sun City, VFW Auxiliary, Pratt, and EHU in Coats.

On Feb. 26, 1943, she married Francis M. Phye Sr. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2002. 

She is survived by two sons Francis M. “Miles” Phye Jr. and wife Cheryl, Pratt, and Larry Phye and wife Wanda, Bethpage, Tenn.; a brother, Jack Waggoner, McPherson; three sisters, Verla Armstrong, Anthony, Marie “Tiny” Weichring, Wichita, and Carolyn “Corky” Ferda, Bluff City; 13 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Delby, J.C., Benny, Harold, and George Waggoner; and five sisters, Rita Carothers, Joann Galusha, Darlene Waggoner, Marilyn “Mary” Ray, and Bernadine Smith.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Larrison Mortuary.  Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, at Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge with Chaplain Ron Moser officiating.
