A pair of Medicine Lodge women were injured in a one-vehicle rollover accident 7 p.m. Friday, March 25.

Injured in the accident were 19-year-old Melynda McDonald and 20-year-old Sondrya Powell both of Medicine Lodge.

The accident occurred at 7 p.m. when McDonald was northbound in a 2004 Ford Escape on U.S. 281 about one and a half miles south of Pratt. The vehicle went across the road to the west side, McDonald overcorrected and crossed both lanes entering the east ditch and rolled two and a half times, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol accident web site.

Pratt County EMS transported McDonald and her passenger Powell to Pratt Regional Medical Center where they were treated and released. Both women were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Sunday

An Isabel man was injured in a one-vehicle accident early Sunday morning east of Sawyer.

Approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 27, Christopher Boyd, 24 of Isabel, was eastbound in a 1999 Ford pickup on K-42 approximately three miles east of Sawyer when he lost control of the vehicle, went off the road into the north ditch, slid sideways, hit a tree and rolled the vehicle on its side, said Pratt County Sheriff Vernon Chinn.

Boyd was trapped for a brief time and he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Pratt County EMS transported Boyd to Pratt Regional Airport then flown to Via Christi St. Francis Campus in Wichita where he remains in fair condition. Excessive speed and alcohol are possible factors in the accident, Chinn said.
