This is my first time to run for public office. I enjoy being involved in the community and giving back where I can. I believe the education system is a big part of Pratt’s economy and I want to help it continue to be successful. I have three kids, one in each of three Pratt schools and I want to stay informed and be a part of the education process.

Q: Why are you running for USD 382 Board of Education.

A: This is my first time to run for public office. I enjoy being involved in the community and giving back where I can. I believe the education system is a big part of Pratt’s economy and I want to help it continue to be successful. I have three kids, one in each of three Pratt schools and I want to stay informed and be a part of the education process.

Q: What challenges face the Board??

A: The declining enrollment, state budget cutbacks and the impending sale of Haskins Elementary school property are all challenges the Board will have to face in the future.

Q: What are your goals as a board member?

A: I want to help maintain the districts programs and maintain the employees amidst state budget cutbacks without raising taxes.

Q: What is working well for the Board and what could be improved??

A: The existing Board has shown tremendous foresight in preparing the district financially for the state funding cutbacks. I feel the Board is doing a good job of maintaining a working relationship between the district employees, teachers and the administration. I am not looking at it as making improvements right away. I first need to learn the ropes then help maintain and grow upon what they are currently doing.

Q: What is your education background?

A: I graduated from Pratt High School in 1987, attended Kansas State University from 1988 to 1990,  I?attended Pratt Community College in 1992-1993 and graduated in 1993 and graduated from Friends University in Wichita in 2005.

Q: What other organizations do you belong to??

A: I?am a Board of Directors member for Pratt Rotary Club and Pratt Area Chamber of Commerce.
