On March 14, the Pratt High School Band began their expedition to march at Walt Disney World. The band left Pratt High School at approximately 9:30 in the morning. Due to the rainy and gloomy weather, the group did not see a drop of sun until they arrived in Florida at 7:30 the next morning. The band successfully endured the treacherous 29-hour bus ride after finally arriving at the hotel later that afternoon.

After their arrival, the band quickly freshened up to go eat dinner at Downtown Disney. The setting provided numerous thrilling sights and restaurants that most members had never experienced before. Restaurants such as the Rain Forest Café and the House of Blues were a popular choice among students. At around 11:30, the band settled into their beds at the hotel to prepare for the next day ahead.

Bright and early the next morning, the band ventured to Magic Kingdom to enjoy the park before marching later that afternoon. Well-known attractions such as Space Mountain and Splash Mountain provided an endless amount of entertainment before the band prepared to march before a parade at 2:45 p.m.

An estimated 28,000 people were there to witness the band as they made their journey from backstage to around Cinderella’s Castle, and through the park in their longest march ever. The march proved to be successful as the reactions from the crowd were full of cheering and clapping. After marching, the band continued to enjoy the park and watch the famous fireworks over the castle before heading back to the hotel to prepare for the next day.

The morning of March 17, the marching Greenbacks took the opportunity to adventure Animal Kingdom and all of its attractions. Expedition Everest was a popular choice among students, as the rollercoaster gave riders a thrill by being stopped by the powerful Yeti.

The Kilimanjaro Safari attraction provided the participants an opportunity to be up and close to animals roaming freely among the land.

Later that day, the band traveled to Epcot to experience Walt Disney’s Future World and World Showcase. Although most did not get to experience the popular rides such as Soarin, due to the long waiting times and already sold-out fast passes, the band did enjoy the other attractions the park had to offer. They also witnessed an amazing fireworks show at the end of the night.

The next morning, the band traveled to Tampa Bay to see the Florida Aquarium. Students had the opportunity to pet stingrays and other aquatic creatures as well as see different types of fish they may have never seen before. That afternoon, the band enjoyed the white sand and cool waves of Clearwater Beach. Seeing the ocean was a first for many of the students and was mentioned numerous times by some of the band members as their favorite part of the trip.

On their last day in sunny Florida, March 19, the band had the opportunity to experience either Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Universal Studios. The band members who went to Hollywood Studios had a blast experiencing the Tower of Terror, while the members who went to Universal spent most of their day in the brand new Wizarding World of Harry Potter Theme Park.

At approximately 4:30 that afternoon, the band began their bus ride home. They arrived back in Pratt on March 20, at around 6:45 that night. The trip was definitely one the members of the band will never forget.
