Melvin Ray Davis, 75, died May 29, 2011, at Pratt Regional Medical Center.

He was born June 9, 1935, at Rogers, Ark., the son of Emery I. and Grace Thomas Davis. A Pratt area resident most of his life, he was a major appliance retail salesman. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Pratt.

He married Betty Owens Davis on Oct. 19, 2002, at Pratt. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Terry L. Davis, Wichita, and Gerald “Homer” Davis, Hayden Lake, Idaho; three stepdaughters, Linda Newland, Pratt, Pam Lucas, Santa Clara, Calif., and Nancy Burrell, Pratt; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leroy Irvin Davis.

Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Dan Ferguson and Chaplain Fred Pinkerton presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ayres-Calbeck Mortuary. Burial will be in Coats Cemetery, Coats.
