The Pratt Recreation Department has several activities going on during the Christmas break and beginning early in January.

Late registration is being taken for a youth basketball clinic for 5-year-olds and kindergarteners, taught by Pratt High basketball Coach David Swank and the boys’ team.

Registration is $10.

The clinic will beheld from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9 and 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14 at the PHS gym.

The Liberty Middle School gym will be open through March 14 for people wanting to shoot baskets and play basketball. The schedule is as follows:

Wednesdays, 7-8:30 p.m. — Eighth grade and under

Wednesdays, 8:30-9:30 p.m. — High school and adults

Sundays, 1-2 p.m. — Fifth grade and under

Sundays 2-3 p.m. — Sixth, seventh and eighth graders

Sundays 3-4 p.m. — High school and adults

No equipment is provided. The southeast gym doors will be the only access into the building. Call the Parks and Recreation office at 672-3261 for additional information.

The Municipal Building will have one court open for basketball and one for volleyball during the Christmas holiday. Dates are Dec. 22, Dec. 23, Dec. 28, Dec. 29 and Dec. 30, from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. on all days.

Karate classes for age 7 through adult will begin Jan. 2 for beginners and Jan. 4 for advanced, both at 7 p.m. at the old Pratt High weight room. Deny Bowe is the instructor.

The fee is $30 and a 2 for 1 family special is available.

Two classes of yoga will begin in January. Yoga for relaxation meets from 7 to 8 p.m. on Mondays. The fee is $20.

Yoga for energy and strength will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Jan. 3 from 9 to 10 a.m. The class fee is $40.

Joni Siemens is the instructor for both classes.

Class sizes are limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Registration is being taken for youth basketball leagues for first through sixth grades. Stop by the PRC office in the Pratt Municipal Building to get your child’s name included in the team drafts.
