The annual tradition of Christmas parties at grade schools continued this year with lots of presents and treats at Southwest Elementary on Wednesday.

Besides food and presents, some classrooms played games and in Heather Teasley’s kindergarten classroom, the class also helped Rya Woody celebrate her upcoming birthday.

With the transition of all grade school students to Southwest after the closing of Haskins Elementary, the building was filled with excited students, busy teachers and volunteer parents who help with the parties.

The Christmas parties have been a school tradition for decades and are always a highlight for the children and a busy time for teachers just before students are dismissed for Christmas vacation.
