The Pratt Junior Legion baseball team took three out of four games this week to continue their successful summer campaign.

Tuesday against Great Bend, they swept a twin bill by counts of 12-8 and 10-0. The opener went back and forth with the Jr. Legionnaires coming out on top. In the nightcap, it was all Pratt as they run-ruled the Benders in an abbreviated match.

The games against Russell on Wednesday at Smoky Ford Field were both wild affairs. In the initial contest, Russell jumped on moundsman Jarod Gilmore for 6 runs in the top of the first inning. However, Gilmore righted the ship thereafter, yielding but a lone tally the rest of the way. That allowed his mates to chip away offensively and eventually put enough runs on the board to come away with a 9-7 victory.

The finale started out in much the same fashion, with the Russells plating 4 against Brandon Ruckle to begin the game. Again Pratt fought back, eventually tying it up at 7 after the fifth frame. However, Russell got their bats warmed back up and struck for 6 more tallies in the 6th and added another score in the 7th.

Pratt had no answer offensively this time, and so fell by a 14-7 count. By winning 3 of 4 this week the Pratt Junior Legion ran their record to 7-3. Next week finds the Juniors at Alva on Monday, at Russell on Thursday, and they will be home next Friday to host Larned.
