A pair of accidents Friday afternoon took place just a few feet apart at First and New. No one was injured in either accident.

The first accident occurred when Reginald Harden, 39 of North Carolina, pulled his 2011 Kenworth semi and trailer off First Street, onto North New then behind the Coyote Country broadcast tower building. The trailer caught a cable and broke off a power pole inside the Coyote Country fence around the broadcast tower.

City power crews had to use a bucket truck to disconnect the broken line because the fence around the broadcast tower was locked. The truck was not damaged in the accident.

As city power crews were leaving, Karl Christmann, 41 of Wichita, was west bound on West First Street in a 2012 Ford Focus when a north bound on New 2010 Chevy Tahoe, driven by Melisa Allen, 44 of Pratt, failed to yield and drove across the street in front of the Ford.

The right front fender of the Chevy hit the front end of the Ford causing very little damage to the Chevy and some serious damage to the front end of the Ford. Neither driver was injured in the accident. Allen said she was talking on her cell phone at the time of the accident, said Pratt Police Officer Danny Gimpel.
