Gordon Richard Mardis, 62, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Via Christi-St. Francis in Wichita. He was born Feb. 15, 1950 in Pratt, the son of Richard Lee and Avis Jo (Sipe) Mardis.
He was a CPA, umpire, and substitute teacher. Gordon also refereed high school and college basketball games.
He served as an officer for the American Diabetes Association.
He is survived by his mother Avis; a daughter, Tara Shirley, Valley Center; two grandsons, Tristen and Gage both of Valley Center.
He was preceded in death by his father Richard; a brother, Danny Mardis, and a sister, Patricia (Trish) Weisshaar.
A Vigil/Rosary service will be at 7 p.m., Sunday, July 8, at Larrison Mortuary, 200 Country Club Rd., Pratt, with the Rev. Floyd McKinney presiding.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. until vigil time Sunday both at the mortuary.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 9 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Dan Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Gordon Mardis Memorial Fund in care of the mortuary.
