  • Avery Neumann, recent graduate of Pratt High School and decorated softball player, spent her summer playing for the Kansas Blue Ice.
Kansas Blue Ice is an 18A all-star type traveling team, putting together a select group of Central Kansas softballers and traveling throughout the central United States.
Neumann was a standout during her tenure as a Greenback. She was an integral part of the team that put together an undefeated regular season and earned a trip to the state tournament in 2012.
She was a CKL all-league performer and was named by the Hutchinson News as 1st team second baseman on the All-area team.
Neumann will continue her softball career in the next scholastic campaign, having won a softball scholarship to play for Neosho County Community College.
The Blue Ice were involved in tournaments virtually every weekend during the summer, most of which were Showcase tournaments.
In addition to Kansas tournaments, the Blue Ice also made the scene in Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri events. The team competed very well, despite having to work around numerous injuries.
Four other team members will be playing collegiately next year while the remainder will return to various high schools to finish out their prep careers.
All will have benefited positively from being members of Blue ice.
