  • A portion of Cullison was ordered evacuated around 10 a.m. Friday morning following a collision between a semi truck and a pickup pulling an anhydrous ammonia tank.

The collision happened at the west entrance to the ADM Grain Elevator when the eastbound semi on U.S. 54 hit the pickup knocking it into the south ditch and turning the anhydrous tank over on the highway. The semi suffered extensive damage on the passenger side

The tank released fumes and liquid on the roadway.

Traffic on U.S. 54 was stopped in both directions while emergency crews cleared the tank off the road and secured it. Traffic was reopened briefly about 10:50 a.m. but closed again within 10 minutes because of fume leak with the damaged tank. The leak was secured and the highway was opened again.

The driver of the pickup was injured and taken to Pratt Regional Medical Center but his condition is unavailable at this time. The driver of the semi was not injured.
