One-vehicle accident claims life of Haviland woman

A one-vehicle rollover accident has claimed the life of a Haviland woman.

Patricia Vasquez, 35 of Haviland, was eastbound in a 1995 Dodge Durango on SW 20th Street just east of SW 120th Avenue when she met a westbound vehicle.

Vasquez pulled to the right, hid a sand ridge, lost control and entered the north ditch, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log website.

The vehicle rolled two times and came to rest on its wheels facing northwest in a milo field. Vasquez was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle contained a child safety seat prompting a search of the field for additional victims but Vasquez was the only occupant.

The accident site is almost 12 miles west and two miles south of Pratt. It was reported at 10:27 a.m.
