David Alan Roberts, age 45, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012 in Alva, Okla., due to a farm accident.

He was a native of Bristol, Tenn., and was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Roberts.

He was a graduate of Bristol Virginia High School, attended E.T.S.U, and was a graduate of John A. Gupton School of Embalming.

David was a licensed funeral director and embalmer in both Tennessee and Virginia. He was a former longtime employee of Akard Funeral Home and was currently employed by Morning Star Farms in Greensburg, Kan.

He attended First Southern Baptist Church in Pratt.

Survivors include his daughter, Meaghan Roberts of Bristol, Tenn.; son, Josh Roberts, of Haviland; mother and stepfather, Patsy Roberts Melvin and Marvin Melvin of Bluff City, Tenn.; stepbrother, Kevin Melvin and wife, Sarah of Pratt; stepsister, Mary Duncan and husband, Matt of Bristol; one nephew, Henry Charles Melvin of Pratt; one niece, Annie Grace Duncan of Bristol; step-grandmother, Mary Alice Melvin of Bluff City; mother of his children, Michelle Roberts of Bristol, Va.; her mother, Freddy Bussey and husband, Luther of Abingdon, Va; her father, Lewis Bussey; her sister, Meredith Doan and husband, Sam and their son, Payton all of Bristol, Va..

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Pratt with Pastor Bob Fleenor officiating.

There was a funeral and interment held in Bristol, TN.
