  • The Pratt Community College volleyball team evened their season record at 4-4 with a 3-1 victory over Dodge City Thursday night at the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena.
Game 1 went back and forth to the wire, a nailbiter in which the Beavers were able to sneek away with a 25-23 victory.
Game 2 belonged to the Lady Conqs 18-25. The game was a tight one again, the score knotted at 17 at one point. Dodge then went on an 8-1 run to close it out. Pratt's attempts to stop the rally were mampered by their own service errors.
Game 3 was the turning point of the match. PCC built a 13-6 lead, but the Conqs closed to 16-14 at one point. But then the teams basically traded points, with Pratt getting just a little bit the better of it until they had secured the 25-21 win.
Much of the offense for PCC came from hits by Darian Condrade and Kylee Powell off of sets by Elisa Seamanu. Erica Gammage had some nice blocks for the Lady Beavers as well.
In the clincher, Pratt outplayed Dodge early, building a 15-8 lead. To get ahead, the Lady Beavers showed good effort and hustle in prolonging rallies.
From there the string was just played out until the Beavers had the 25-18 game to claim the match.
In the finale, Paige Teel joined the hit parade scoring some kills and Skyline product Kaitlyn Swonger made some nice plays offensively as well as defensively.
The Lady Beavers continue their season traveling to Hutchinson September 5 for a conference match.
