Ruth Thomas, 88, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at the Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital. She was born May 17, 1924, at Nash, Okla., the daughter of Henry K. and Mary Marie McDermed Howard. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge.
On July 17, 1939 she married Howard A. Thomas at Medicine Lodge. He died Dec. 3, 2006.
Survivors include a daughter, Kay Lynn and son-in-law Garland Smith, Dodge City; a son, Tom Thomas, Sharon; three sisters, Wilma Kusch, Fairview, Okla., Mae Rodgers, Dodge City, and Patti Tate, Pollok, Texas; five grandchildren, Lori Crowder and husband Kurt, Brad Smith and wife Mary, Matt Thomas, Chris Beeman, and Jeff Beeman; six great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Howard Thomas; her stepmother, Evelyn K. (Pearce) Howard; two brothers, Gordon Howard and Wayne Howard and a sister, Glenna Lee Howard.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 7, at Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, with Pastor Tom Walters officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.
