Homer W. Briggeman, of Rolla, Mo., passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at the age of 80.
He was born in Pratt, on Aug. 23, 1932, to Louis and Esty (Miskimen) Briggeman. On Sept. 24, 1955, he married Adalene Swindler and they were blessed with five children. Mr. Briggeman earned a master's degree in geology from Kansas State University. He retired as a cartographer for the U.S.G.S. and then worked an additional 20 yrs for the Key Sport Shop in Rolla.
Homer was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War.
He was an active volunteer and member of several civic organizations including Gideon's International, L.O.V.E., Meals on Wheels, the Amateur Radio Society, and the Korean War Veterans. He was also a member of the First Assembly of God in Rolla.
In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by three brothers.
He will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes his wife of 57 years, Adalene Briggeman, of Rolla; five children, Leah Smith and husband Tim, of Jefferson City, Mo., Alisa Green and husband Tom, of Rolla, Louis Briggeman and wife Cheryl, of Rolla, Carla Raglin and husband Tim, of Omaha, Neb., and Amy Trowbridge and husband Mark, of Green Valley, Mo.; five grandchildren, Anna Smith, Henry Smith, Sydney Bac, Aubrey Woodard, and Emma Trowbridge; one great-grandson, Danny Bac; one sister, Lowetta Shumway, of Hutchison; nieces, nephews, other extended family members and many dear friends. A funeral service for Homer Briggeman will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the First Assembly of God in Rolla. Pastors Chuck Whitmire and Ray Cook will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the church prior to the service beginning at 9 a.m.
