Special event a good time to get started or back into class.

The Pratt County Extension Office would like to invite you to a fall fitness event. Join the Strong Women strength training classes on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. or 5 p.m. at the Pratt County Extension Office, 824 W 1st Street. County Extension Agent Jodi Drake will explain and demonstrate the basic exercises. This will be an excellent opportunity to either get started or get back into the class again.

The Strong Women Program was developed by Dr. Miriam Nelson, an associate professor at the Gerald J. And Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. The Strong Women Program is based upon years of research on how strength training and proper nutrition improve the health of women of all ages. Strength is a critical factor in living healthier, more active lives. "Our research shows that a program of strength training not only improves bone density but reduces falls, improves arthritis symptoms, and increases flexibility and strength," Dr. Nelson said.

The program is appropriate for both sedentary and very active women.
