  • It was not damp enough to qualify as “Frog weather,” but the cool temperatures, flat surface and firm footing on the Sterling golf course combined to allow the Pratt High School crosscountry team to post numerous season best times at the Sterling Invitational on Thursday.

  • It was not damp enough to qualify as “Frog weather,” but the cool temperatures, flat surface and firm footing on the Sterling golf course combined to allow the Pratt High School crosscountry team to post numerous season best times at the Sterling Invitational on Thursday.
    At the large meet with 15 schools in attendance, the PHS girls finished 3rd as a team and the boys were 4th. Rising crosscountry power Ellinwood swept both divisions.
    Kaylah Romine finished 3rd (15:35) behind TMPs star Heather Ruder (15:11) and CKL favorite Hillsboro’s Emily Seachist (15:16.)
    Other Greenback medalists included Ruth Anthony (8th 16:24) and Cassidy Cronister (21st 17:35.)
    Carly Reid posted a 17:57 (26th) and Chloe Cannata returned off the injured list with a 19:38 (41st.) Nichole Moreland could not finish the race, but her injury is not expected to linger.
    For the boys, Brendan Pribil medaled again (18:07 12th). Other finishers were Joseph Loomis (19:11 28th), Zach Claussen (19:44 39th), Josh Powell (20:06 42nd), Caleb Hitz ( 20:15 45th), Cooper Crump (20:37 49th) and Hayden May (21:41 57th.)
    A JV highlight was Chance Reh taking the gold medal in 19:52.
    The CKL meet at Smoky Valley is next Thursday.
