Gene L. Neelly, 76, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Pratt Regional Medical Center. He was born July 12, 1936, in Pawnee County, the son of Archie and Helen Carter Neelly.

Gene has lived in Pratt for 18 years, coming from Greensburg. He taught school and coached at Claflin, Greensburg and Mullinville. After retirement he was a substitute teacher at Pratt, Skyline, Haviland and Kiowa County High Schools, Southwest Elementary and Pratt Junior High.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pratt, the BPOE Elks Lodge No. 1451 and Don's Servateria "Breakfast Club."

On June 25, 1994, he married Nancy Thomas Drosselmeyer at Pratt. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Kurt Neelly of Bowling Green, Ky.; two daughters, Cassie and Troy Kirby of Greensburg, and Keri and Mark Shroyer of Hutchinson; a stepson, Tracy and Nancy Drosselmeyer of Wichita; two stepdaughters, Kiva and Scott Sanders of Olathe, and Reesa Gilleece of Olathe, and Greg Gilleece of Pratt; two brothers, Charles Neelly of Mullinville and Alan Neelly of Hutchinson and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Earl and Larry Neelly.

Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register book Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. with family receiving friends from 2–4 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt.

Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15 at the First United Methodist Church in Pratt with Dr. Dan Ferguson presiding.

Memorials may be made to Kiowa County High School Athletic Department, First United Methodist Church or Albert McFall Cancer Fund in care of the mortuary.
