  • The Pratt Community College Beavers crosscountry team ran recently at Hays, and then also hosted their own meet.
    In the Ft. Hays State Tiger Open held Saturday October 6th, a pair of Beavers competed.
    Freshman Jenny Boroughs placed 36th out of 96 competitors in the women’s 5,000 meter race. Boroughs finished seventh among community college finishers in the race. Her time of 20:13 for the 5,000 meter distance was a life time best by 59 seconds.   
    Sophomore Blake Thompson who placed 77th in the men’s 8,000 meter race also ran a lifetime best of 27:33.  Thompson improved his personal lifetime best time by 1 minute 22 seconds.
    “This was our first cold weather meet of the season and I think we responded exceptionally well,” head coach Ryan Turner said. "Jenny and Blake were patient but very competitive early and moved up well the entire race, I’m very proud of them and their performance.”
    On Wednesday  October 10th, PCC hosted the First Annual Beaver Duals Crosscountry Meet.
    The meet was held at the Stafford Municipal Airport with a 2 mile race for women and a 3 mile race for men. The meet was a dual with Barton County.
    “We’re excited to be hosting a dual cross country meet against such a historically successful program such as Barton,” head coach Ryan Turner said.
