Pratt merchants will stay open late next Thursday for an event billed as a “Fabulous Fall Open House,” the latest edition of what has been known for seven years as Girls Night Out. They've tweaked the details, given more emphasis to it being a time for women to get together without the kids, and reached out beyond the downtown area.
Pratt merchants will stay open late next Thursday for an event billed as a "Fabulous Fall Open House," the latest edition of what has been known for seven years as Girls Night Out. They've tweaked the details, given more emphasis to it being a time for women to get together without the kids, and reached out beyond the downtown area.
Most stores will have some special sales and many will have refreshments and drawings between 5 and 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18. Cathy Hergenreder, owner of Memories and an organizer for the Pratt Area Chamber of Commerce event, outlined a strategy. Pick up a card listing all participants at the first store, and have it marked at each business visited. Leave it at the last store; no worries about having to end your shopping in time to get somewhere else on time. Hope to hear that you've won a special prize in a drawing Friday at the Chamber office.
Shoppers who visit all 12 participating businesses are entered into a drawing for $200 in Chamber Bucks. Visit eight for a chance to win one of two $50 drawings. Winners must be at least 18.
Most businesses are located in the first three blocks of Main Street, but to take full advantage of the evening, shoppers will need to do some traveling. The Flower Shoppe, a regular participant in the event, is on East Fourth, just a block off Main. A pair of resale stores, Cathy's Closet and Sassy Sisters, are in the 600 block of South Main. Find clothing and accessories on East First, at Maurices and Lisa's Western Wear.
"It's just a fun night to get out with your girlfriends," Hergenreder said, as retailers showcase fashion, home decor and holiday items. "You can see what's new for the season, what colors are new and what the trends are."
She gave a hint on trends — owls were everywhere at market, fitting in with a theme of "everything natural."
If you need an owl, want a special accessory or piece of clothing to spice up a wardrobe, a new serving dish for holiday parties or a package of ingredients to make a to-die-for dip, love a bargain or just enjoy the experience of trouping from store to store in the company of good friends, Pratt is the destination on Oct. 18.
