Distinguished Business Awards will be presented and members will be given a marketing challenge.

Pratt area business people are encouraged to put themselves in their customers' shoes — and make sure they fit. Richard Smalley, marketing manager for Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, will present the keynote address at the annual meeting of the Pratt Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Pratt Area 4-H Center, on the fairgrounds.

Smalley is a native of Marysville, and received his undergraduate degree in mass communications and Master's of Business Administration from Kansas State University. He served 12 years as marketing communications manager for a division of Caterpillar Inc. and three years as marketing manager with Kinedyne Corporation prior to moving to his position.

He serves on the advisory board for the Department of Hospitality Management and Dietetics at Kansas State and recently the Board of Directors for CenStates Travel and Tourism Research Association.

In his spare time he plays drums and sings with the band Mainstreet, which he started over 25 years ago.

Outgoing Chamber of Commerce board members will be honored, and Large and Small Distinguished Business Awards will be presented. The Pratt Young Professionals will present a short program about their activities.

The dinner begins at 6 p.m. Ticket prices are $15 for Chamber members and $20 for non-Chamber members. Contact the Chamber office at 672-5501 or toll-free 888-886-1164 for reservations.
