  • Country music recording artist Jake Gill will perform at LeRoy's Bar and Grill, 701 East First at 10 p.m. on Nov. 17 and donate a portion of CD sales to help pay medical expenses for Jerry McMillian of Stafford. The CD can be purchased at the bar or on his website, www.jakegill.net.
Gill is a chiropractor in Hutchinson, and after 11 years in practice, finds himself in a financial position to go after his dream of "playing in the circle on the stage at the Grand Ole Opry" in Nashville, according to his website.
He released his debut album, "Guts Guns and Jesus" on Nov. 1. His music is country rock, with a little bit of Oklahoma and Texas "red dirt" influence, according to manager Shannon Webb, and ranges from timeless country ballads to new, innovative sounds.
"This album is real from beginning to end," Gill said. "Mostly what I want my audience to know is that each of them has been given talents and gifts and they have to find what they are and then share those with the world. It's your duty to yourself, your country and God."
Gill frequently performs benefits, but usually for recognized foundations, according to Webb, but when the McMillian family told him about the expenses related to cancer treatment, he couldn't say no.
