Roy "Dean" Miller, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012 at Ponca City, Medical Center in Ponca City, Okla. He was 89.

Dean was born on June 6, 1923 in Cullison to Roy and Millie (Comer) Miller. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in World War II, earning the distinguish Croix De Guirse (from the French in 1944), one Silver Star, and five bronze stars.

Upon his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to his home town where he attended Pratt Community college. He then went to work with his father in their family business, the Miller Grain Co.

On Oct. 28, 1961, he married Rosario "Tina" Nucamendi. They celebrated 51 years of marriage before his passing. After his father retired, he took over the business and retired, closing the business in 1992. In 1998, they moved to Ponca City to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Dean was a loving husband and father. His family was his life. In his early years, he was very active with the Boy Scouts of America, deacon of his church and 4-H leader. He spent countless hours attending his children and grandchildren's numerous activates. He never missed a concert, game or school program. He was helpful to all who knew him and there was nothing he couldn't fix or repair.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, June Hodges and Emma Hefty; and one brother, Kenneth Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Rosario "Tina" Miller of Ponca City, Okla.; two daughters, Tina Riedinger and Debra Hazlett and husband David, all of Ponca City; three sons, Dean Miller and his wife Lisa of Ponca City, Cesar Miller and his wife Starla of Goodland, and T.J. Schlumbohm and his wife Nancy of Wichita; 14 grandchildren, Helmut Riedinger and wife,Amanda of Bartlesville, Okla., Philip Miller of Ponca City, Derek Riedinger of Wichita, Kaitlyn Miller of Ponca City, Shayley Miller of Goodland, Kristyn Miller of Ponca City, Gerell Miller of Goodland, Ryan Hazlett of Ponca City, Karyn Miller of Ponca City, Sianna Miller of Goodland, Valerie Hazlett of Ponca City, Paul Miller of Ponca City, Kathryn Miller of Ponca City and Gantzen Miller of Goodland.

The service was held Monday at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Montgomery, officiating. Burial, with military honors, followed at the Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City. Arrangements were under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory of Ponca City.
