  • Beginning Nov. 27 the Delmar Riney Art Gallery will be graced with the photographic stylings of Stan Reimer's Digital Photography class. The exhibit, entitled "Digital Photography" will be on display through Dec. 13.
In order to fill the exhibit each of the course's nine students were required to submit two or three prints for public viewing. The shots were to be taken during the fall semester using digital cameras, and students were required to learn to operate the camera manually.
"They learned to use f-stops and shutter speeds to properly capture the photographic subject," said Stan Reimer, instructor of digital photography at Pratt Community College. "The motto is, 'photographers take photographs, not cameras.'"
Consideration for the exhibit was given to those with the most interesting subjects, proper exposure, and good composition.
"The photograph needs to convey an idea or evoke an emotion," said Reimer. "I am very pleased with the quality of this show. Students produced some excellent images."
Reimer, a professional photographer since 1976, is the owner and photographer for Stan Reimer Photography and the Photography Gallery in Pratt.
Reimer has been awarded the degrees of Master Photographer and Master Craftsman by the Professional Photographers of America. He has been a judge and instructor at the community college level and professional schools as well as seminars for the past forty years.
