  • On Thursday, in their only look at an out-of-league opponent this season, the Liberty 8th graders were able to control the game against Larned at home, downing the visiting Indians 45-28.
LMS8 seized control of the game midway through the first quarter, mostly due to employing a variety of defenses. “Our 3/4 court trap was very effective at taking Larned out of their flow,” said LMS head coach Andy Kisner. “Noah Myers, Hunter Kaufman and Samson Kohman controlled their guards at the front of the press and Traik Peltier and Bryce Stegman covered the passing lanes downcourt.”
The middlers were also efficient offensively. Kohman and Myers handled Larned’s full court pressure and Peltier was big on the glass in the half court.
The Liberty 7th graders led at halftime but were denied a victory as the Larned 7th graders exploded for 25 points in the second half to claim a 39-31 win.
