  • Dr. Price A. Gibbons DDS, 89, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 at Pratt Rehabilitation and Residence Center in Pratt. He was born May 30, 1923 in Pratt, the son of Clarence George and Cecile W. (Shafer) Gibbons. He was a dentist.
    On Sept. 20, 1946 he married Shirley Mae Denchfield at Kansas City, Kansas, then he left for the Philippines where he served for a year. Then was sent to Hawaii where Shirley joined him. He was discharged as a Captain in the Dental Corps. He opened his office in Pratt in 1948.
    He enjoyed participating in various historical occasions, riding his horse, Mr. Gibbs, in the parades as well as helping in the museum.
    He was a member of the Pratt Promenaders for many years, Pratt Historical Society, where both Price and Shirley were on the board for a few years. They were also long-time members of the Pratt Saddle Club and Lariat Club, with Price serving as president for two different terms.
    Price enjoyed many things and they usually involved the family. They took vacations together and worked together in the yard and garden. They especially enjoyed their vacations hiking in the mountains in Colorado and their trips to the Lake of the Ozarks. His folks didn't participate in the water skiing, but the rest of them did.
    He is survived by his wife Shirley; two daughters, Jeanne and husband Dr. Eugene F. Anderson, Leawood, and Connie Gibbons, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandchildren, Robin Kay and husband Robert Hays, Alameda, Calif., and Kevin M. Anderson, Leawood; and a great-granddaughter, Olive Lynde Hays.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, and an uncle, Harvey Gibbons.
    Visitation will be from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 20, and Friday, Dec. 21, at Larrison Mortuary 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt.
    Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday at the mortuary, with Dr. Dan Ferguson and Rick Barker officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.
