  • Annual meeting highlights Sunflower RC&D accomplishments

  • The 44th Annual Sunflower Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Area, Inc. meeting will be held Jan. 10, 2013 in Pratt.
    Gathering will begin at 6 p.m. with the dinner meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. in rooms 312-314 of the Riney Student Conference Center at Pratt Community College. The meeting will feature project accomplishments and activities for the RC&D's fiscal year of 2012.
    Along with an overview of RC&D program activities, those attending will hear highlights of this year's 25 completed projects. The council has reviewed and approved the FY13 Plan of Work. Copies of executive summaries will be available for distribution.
    A short program is being planned. The business meeting will also involve election of officers and presenting awards to individuals and projects that have reflected the Council's Area Plan and accomplishments.
    Those attending the meeting can enjoy a delicious dinner.
    Reservation deadline is Monday, Jan. 7 at 5 p.m. and can be made by calling the Sunflower RC&D office at 620-896-7378 or by e-mail to dollie@sunflowerrcd.com.
    Donations will be accepted for meal cost and to support RC&D projects and program activities.
    The Sunflower RC&D Area, Inc. is a 501(c) 3, multi-county, non-profit organization which serves Barber, Comanche, Cowley, Harper, Kiowa, Kingman, Pratt and Sumner Counties.
    The RC&D mission is to serve as a grassroots team, coordinating efforts which conserve and develop our natural, economic and human resources, while improving quality of life for the eight county area.
