George H. Wallace Jr., 78, died Jan. 15, 2013, at South Wind Hospice Home, Pratt. He was born May 31, 1934, at Woods, Kan., the son of George H. Wallace Sr. and Barbara M. Smith Wallace.
He was a retired baker and school custodian. He worked for many years for the Gadeke Bakery in Pratt, until their closing and for nearly 20 years for USD 382 in Pratt. He was a member of Pratt Friends Church.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
On Nov. 7, 1953, he married Beverly Lawrence at Clayton, N.M. She survives, of Pratt.
Other survivors include a sister, Peggy Mead, Corpus Christi, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Garry and Mark Wallace; and three sisters, Nadine Heying, Billie Stepanek and Maurice Baird.
Memorial service is at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Ayres-Calbeck Mortuary, with the Rev. John Havens officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Liberal Cemetery, Liberal.
