Rodney Muller, superintendent of the Empire Ranch Golf Club, Folsom, Calif., received the Golf Course Superintendent of the Year Award from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of Northern California.

He is the son of Loren and Lois Muller, Pratt and is a graduate of Pratt High School and Pratt Community College. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture with an emphasis in golf course management from Kansas State University, which he added to his Bachelor of Arts degree in management and human relations.

Under his leadership, Empire Ranch picked up more than 100 new members through its program offerings, at a time when some golf facilities were just trying to hold on. He has served on the GCSANC board of directors, most recently as president. During his tenure he was instrumental in improving programs and services for fellow golf course superintendents and affiliate members.

Muller and wife Dr. Debra Benitez have an 11-year-old daughter Quinlan.
