  • Thelma Jean Shinliver, 88, of Medicine Lodge, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at the Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital. She was born on Oct. 30, 1924, in Nashville, Kan., the daughter of Ira J. and Bernice L. (Meek) Mease.
    On March 16, 1946, she married Dwaine Shinliver. He preceded her in death in 1995.
    Mrs. Shinliver was a member of the Community Church of Sharon, and attended the First Christian Church in Medicine Lodge. She was also a member of the Barber County Study & Social Club and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, and crocheting.
    Surviving are her children, Sanka Hornecker and husband Gerry of Warrenton, Mo., Dennis Shinliver and wife Shirley of Argonia, Gary Shinliver and wife Marilyn of Wichita, Greg Shinliver and wife Donna of Medicine Lodge, Cheryl Donelan and husband Dave of Wichita, Danny Shinliver and wife Beth of Nashville, and Randy Shinliver and wife Shirlene of Nashville; 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Harding and husband Eugene of Concordia, Shirley Shaddox of Kingman, and Wanda Hartman and husband Carl of Isabel; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Mease of Nashville, and Charlene Kennedy and husband Paul of Sawyer.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter, Kim Thornbro; a sister, Marjorie Lauterbach and a brother, Pete Mease.
    Visitation will be on Monday, Feb/ 4, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6-8 p.m., at the Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge,KS.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, with Pastor Tom Walters officiating. Inurnment will be at the Liberty Cemetery, Nashville, at a later date.
