The Pratt Community College Men and Women's Track & Field Team competed at the Region VI/KJCCC Conference Championships this past Friday at the University of Kansas.
The PCC men scored a total of 38 points in the conference standings while the PCC women followed with 17 points. This was the most points scored by a PCC track team at in the conference meet in the past 10 years.
The men were led by Beaver Sophomore Blake Thompson as he accounted for seven points from three individual events and an additional six points while anchoring two relays. In all Thompson covered seven and a half miles in five events. Other notable performances came from Jared Walker and Cunningham local Hunter Hope. Walker once again hit a national qualifying mark in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.01 while Hope placed 4th in the conference pole vault.
The Beaver Women had their own share of success as TaQuisha Drisdell once again broke her own 200m school record and the 4 x 400m Relay also set a school record (Tamika Crawford, Arbonee Marshall, Jenny Boroughs, and Maribel Fraire). This brings the total number of school records broken or established this season to six.
Next up for the Beaver Track Team is the National Championships March 1-2, 2013 in Lubbock, Texas. Representing the Beavers will be Darius Hyacinth in the Men's Triple Jump and Jared Walker in the Men's 60 meter & 200 meter dash.
