A 3-year-old child abducted from Los Angeles County has been located and recovered in Pratt through a joint investigation by the Pratt Police Department and the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

The mother of the 3-year-old child, Kimber Braaten, has been arrested on charges of aggravated interference with parental custody, said Pratt Police Detective Jeff Ward.

Braaten allegedly unlawfully detained and concealed the child of Joshua Desadier in violation of a Los Angeles County Superior Court order.

In August 2012, the Superior Court ordered the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office to recover the child, Ward said.

In February, Los Angeles investigators tracked Braaten to a possible address in Pratt and contacted the Pratt Police Department. After a week and a half of surveillance, the department located and identified both Braaten and the child.

After they were located, Los Angeles County authorities traveled to Pratt. The Pratt County District Court authorized the Pratt Police to recover the child and place it in protective custody.

The child has been returned to California and reunited with his father. Braaten has been released on bond with court appearances scheduled in both California and Pratt for early March 2013.
