Helen E. Costello, age 93, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Derby Health and Rehabilitation in Derby.

Helen was born Dec. 15, 1919, at Pratt, the daughter of L.F. and Marie Alexander Daughtry. She grew up and attended school in Pratt, graduating from Pratt High School. She attended Pratt College for two years and then Emporia Teachers College.

She taught high school English at Tampa from 1944 until 1961 and then taught at Pratt from 1961 through 1984.

On June 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to Leo Costello. Mr. Costello passed away on Dec. 18, 1995. One child, Patricia, was born to this union.

From 1961 until her retirement in 1984, Helen lived in both Pratt and Tampa, traveling back and forth each week. After her retirement, she made her home in Tampa. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish, Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Tampa.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ingalls and husband Tom of Mulvane; four grandchildren, Scott, Mark and Kevin Ingalls and Laurie Sutherland; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The rosary will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7, and the funeral at 11 a.m. Friday, both at the Holy Redeemer Church in Tampa. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Tampa. Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion, is in charge of arrangements.
