On February 7, at halftime of the Emporia State University men's and women's basketball games, members of the Emporia State Athletic Director’s Honor Roll were recognized by ESU athletic director Kent Weiser.  Among those honored were junior Ashton Neumann-softball; Micah Swank-basketball; and freshmen Dominique Staats and Payson Maydew-track.
Ashton Neumann was a member of Phi Theta Kappa academic honor society while a student athlete at Pratt Community College. Ashton will be inducted into the Gamma Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma National Collegiate Athletic Honor Society this spring.  She is also a recipient of the Ellsworth C. Dent Scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year at Emporia State University.
Neumann’s younger sister Avery is currently a freshman attending Neosho County Community College on a softball scholarship. On February 6, NCCC recognized their Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for academic excellence and Avery Neumann was one of the honorees.
Avery is also a member of the Iota chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, having been inducted earlier in the year.
