  • Kent Goyen of Pratt has been selected as a winner in America's Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. The fund gives farmers the opportunity to win a $2,500 donation to direct to their favorite local nonprofit organizations. To further support counties that have been declared disaster areas due to drought by the USDA, winning farmers were able to double the donation, to a total of $5,000.
"It was the luck of the draw, and when you get lucky, you share with your friends," Goyen commented as the award was presented Monday night.
He chose to share with two "friends," the Pratt Health Foundation and Pratt High School Career and Technical Education Department.
"It's an easy fund-raiser," said Lance Embree, representing the agricultural chemical company. "Farmers spend a lot of money with our company, and it's a way to put money back into the community."
The gift to the Health Foundation will be put toward equipment after the renovation project at Pratt Regional Medical Center, Bryan said.
