  • The Pratt Community College baseball team team managed a split at Hutch over the weekend while the softball team was swept by #18 Highland at Angood Field.
On Friday, Beavers baseball prevailed in comfortable fashion 9-0 over the Blue Dragons in the opener before falling 3-2 in the nightcap.
PCC got two good pitching performances, but could only translate one of those into a win. Colton Lorance pitched another gem in the opener, tossing a 3-hit complete game shutout.
Gaige Webster was the big producer for the Beaver offense, going 3-3 with3 runs scored and 2 RBIs.
Southpaw Tyler Huffstickler threw well in the nightcap, giving up only 3 hits in 7.2 innings of work. Unfortunately, the Beaver defense committed some miscues that led to Blue Dragon scores, and the offense could not capitalize when they had opportunities. PCC could not come up with the big hit with RISP. ”
Currently at 9-12 (5-9 in the conference), PCC will conclude the 4-game series with Hutch on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in a twinbill postponed from Saturday due to the weather.
The Lady Beavers were brushed aside by nationally ranked Highland 18-0 and 10-1 in a pair of abbreviated contests on Friday. The home games scheduled with Cloud on Tuesday have been moved to Thursday, 2 and 4 p.m. PCC falls to 12-18 (7-9 conference) with the losses.
