Norma Jean Orem Marteney passed away April 6, 2013, at Hilltop Manor in Cunningham.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ayres-Calbeck Mortuary, with Minister John Hamm officiating. Interment will be in Cairo Cemetery, rural Pratt County. Friends may sign the register book from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and until service time Wednesday at the mortuary.

She was born Dec. 31, 1935, at Meade, to Glenn and Esther Pauline Harris Orem. She worked at the Cullison School cafeteria, Fish N Chips Cafe, Drive-in Market, Doskocils and Elks Lodge No. 1451. After her retirement she volunteered many hours at Friendship Meals and through RSVP. She sat on the board of the Southwest Area Council on Aging.

She married Lavern Marteney on Nov. 7, 1953, at Clayton, N.M. He died Sept. 21, 1982.

Survivors include: a son, Steve and Kathy Marteney, Pratt; daughter, Nancy and Steve Armstrong, Cunningham; grandson, Brian Marteney; step-grandsons, Matt Fulton, Justin Armstrong and Derek Armstrong; a step-granddaughter, Valerie Rhoades; many great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lola Tritt, Overland Park.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Wayne Orem.
