  • The Pratt Community College Beavers hosted Seward County for a 4-game set over the weekend. There were several different kinds of games included in the series, but PCC dropped 3 out of the 4 to the visiting Saints on Friday and Saturday at Stanion Field.
The first game was an abbreviated (5 inning) affair as Seward County had their way with the Beavers, clubbing them 12-1 in un-‘saint’ly fashion.
The Beavers were able to get the bats going in Friday’s nightcap, pushing across 18 tallies. They would need almost all of those however, as Pratt was unable to put the brakes on Seward’s offense either. PCC ultimately prevailed in an 18-15 slugfest.
The Saints took both ends of Sunday’s doubleheader in games that were both more representative of what is usually considered to be ‘normal’ baseball.
Seward took the opener 5-2, then denied PCC the series split by turning the Beavers back 6-5 in the finale.
Dropping 3 out of 4  on the series dipped Pratt below .500 for the season at 15-16 (8-12 Jayhawk conference.) PCC travels Tuesday for a rematch with Tonkawa, a team that PCC bested 11-10 in extra innings back in February to earn their first victory of the season.
