  • Greenback girls 2nd at St. John

  • With 66 points on the track and 54 in the field, the well-balanced Pratt High School girls team was able to take 2nd place to Ellinwood (141) at the ten-school Keith Blide track meet in St. John last Friday. The PHS boys totaled 77 points to finish 3rd behind LaCrosse (124).

  • With 66 points on the track and 54 in the field, the well-balanced Pratt High School girls team was able to take 2nd place to Ellinwood (141) at the ten-school Keith Blide track meet in St. John last Friday. The PHS boys totaled 77 points to finish 3rd behind LaCrosse (124).
    Connor Reh was high point girl for the Lady Greenbacks, scoring both on the track and in the field. Reh won the triple jump (34-06) and took 3rd in long jump (16-04.) She also got the bronze in the 100m (13.24) and teamed with Paige Bailey, Jaci Kolm and Christina Fernandez for the gold medal in the sprint relay.
    Also scoring well was Jenson Maydew who captured the weights double, winning both shot put (35-07) and discus (99-07). Distance runner Kaylah Romine took 1st in the 3200m (12:26) and 2nd in the 1600m (5:55.) Adele Loomis captured the Lady Frogs other gold medal, besting the 800m field (2:33).  
    Other Greenback placers on the track included: Paige Bailey 200m 3rd 28:08; Christina Fernandez 200m 6th 29.9; and Kirsten Roberts 100mHH 6th 21.14.
    Pratt fielded two other placing relays: 4x400 3rd 4:37 (Anna Swank, Chloe Cannata, Jaci Kolm, Adele Loomis); and 4x800 2nd 11:00 (Anna Swank, Cassidy Cronister, Adele Loomis, Nichole Moreland.)
    Other jumpers to place included Carly Reid LJ 6th 15-02 and Jaci Kolm TJ 6th 31-05. The Frogs vault trio all placed as well: Morgan Strong 3rd 8-6; Chloe Cannata 4th 8-6; Christina Fernandez 6th 7-0.  Samaria Kohman chipped in a 6th in shot (30-4) and a 4th in discus(90-5) to round out the Lady Greenback scoring.
    The boys squad racked up a respectable 60 points on the track. The Frogs were paced by Robby Eggleston with silvers in the 100m (11.83) and the 200m (23.77). In addition, Eggleston teamed with Nick Koler, Devon Koehler and Anthony Cannata to take 2nd in the 4x100 relay.  Koler also got 4th in the 100m (12.24) and Koehler was 4th in the 200m ( 24.3).  
    In middle distances, Ryan Landry took 4th in 400m (55.64). Josh Ash took 3rd in 800m (2:09).  That pair along with Devin Roberts and Weston Riner took 3rd in the 4x400.  Riner and Roberts placed in the 110mHH, 3rd (16.61) and 5th (17.7) respectively.
    Points in the field events were harder to come by for the Greenbacks. Pratt had 3 placers in the pole vault: Josh Powell 2nd 10-6; Shawn Ramos 3d 10-6; Johnathan Hurt 5th 8-6. Austin Gates picked up a 6th in javelin (134). Other Frog jumpers and throwers were shut out, however.
    Pratt’s meet scheduled for Tuesday at Larned was kiboshed due to arctic weather conditions.
