  • Elmer Lee Meier, 82, of Pratt, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Deseret Care Center, Pratt. He was born on Feb. 22, 1931, in Sumner County, the son of Harvey E. Meier and Marie (Buss) Meier.
    Mr. Meier was a member of the First Christian Church in Pratt, where he served as elder and trustee. He was a member of the Pratt Promenaders, the Kansas Round Dance Associaton, and a life member (45 years) with the Elks Lodge.
    On March 22, 1981, Elmer married Juanita C. Whiting in Fayetteville, Ark. She survives.
    Other survivors include a son, Darryl (Connie) Meier of Pratt; two daughters, Janet (Wayne) Toews of Penalosa, and Elaine (Keith) Ray of Pratt; one stepson, Jeffery (Pam) McLaughlin of Lincoln, Neb.; one stepdaughter, Pam A. Glenn of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Harley (Pat) Meier of Hutchinson; one sister, Joyce Bliss of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren, Sheri (Shane) Rose of Cullison, Jeff (Kelly) Meier of Haysville, Kendall (Jodi) Ray of Pratt, Mike Ray of Overland Park, Doug Ray of Pratt, Laura (Eric) Buck of Pratt, Kevin (Madison) Meier of Chapman, and Kayla Meier of Pratt; nine great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, eight step-great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his first wife, Wilma Meier of Pratt.
    Mr. Meier was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Karen Meier; a son, Marvin Meier; and a sister, Violet Strong.
    Visitation will be on Thursday, May 9, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
    Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary, with Robin Colerick officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Penwell Gabel Cemetery, Hutchinson.
