Twyla June Hodson, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Hilltop Manor, Cunningham, on Monday, May 27, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Twyla was born at the farm near Cullison on June 26, 1924, the daughter of Roy and Laura (Adamson) Ward. She was a graduate of Byers High School and Emporia State Teacher's College. She taught at the primary room in Penalosa in 1943 and 1944.

She married Harold Lewis Hodson on Nov. 11, 1945 near Macksville. They were married for 59 years until his death July 17, 2004.

She is survived by her children, Adonna (Ken) Russell, Kingston, Okla., Judy (Don) Hensley, Kansas City, Mo., Mark (Diana) Hodson, Pratt, and Patricia (Rex) Sturdy, Harvest, Ala.; two sisters, Lola Shanley, Hutchinson, and Georgia Tyrell, Palm Desert, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Larrison Mortuary 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt, where family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, at the mortuary with John Hamm presiding. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell.
