  • The Pratt High School track team was shut out at the state track meet over the weekend. No Greenback boys qualified for the state meet, and none of the 11 girls who made it to WSU were able to break onto the medal stand.
The closest anyone came was junior Jenson Maydew who placed 9th in both her events, the shot and discus. With the top 8 medaling, Maydew came up just a bit short. She tossed 109-0 in the discus and 39-1 in the shot.
Pratt’s other discus throwers were not able to duplicate the magic from a week ago at regional, either. Kayla Baer finished 15th (93-2) and Samaria Kohman was 16th (92-9) at state.
In other field events, Paige Bailey long jumped 15-8, which placed her 13th.
On the track, senior Connor Reh posted a 12.9 in the 100m prelims which did not qualify her for finals. Senior Kaylah Romine ran 12.11 in the 32oom which placed her 11th.
Both of Pratt’s relays finished out of the money. The 4x100 (Connor Reh, Christina Fernandez, Jaci Kolm and Paige Bailey) ran 51.94 which placed them 15th. The 4x800 (Nichole Moreland, Cassidy Cronister, Kaylah Romine and Adele Loomis) placed 14th in 10:39.
Reh and Romine are seniors, but the other Greenbacks will have a chance next year to hoist some hardware.
