Elrena Marie Johnson, 89, died Friday, May 24 at Pratt Regional Medical Center in Pratt. She was born May 10, 1924, the daughter of Claud L. and Myrtle (Sanders) Marteney.
He was a retired USD 382 School Board office manager and worked in that position for more than 30 years. She was an avid bowler and loved fishing and playing golf. She was a past member of the Retired Teacher’s Association and a member of the Pratt Presbyterian Church.
She married Richard E. Horney and later married Marvel D. Johnson, Dec. 6, 1966. Johnson died June 3, 2005.
She is survived by a son Mark Horney of Laverne, Okla.; a step-son Gary Johnson of Darian, Ill.; a daughter Leigh Ann Curtis of Pratt; and two step-daughters Jan Wulfemeyer of Abbyville, and Sue Penner of Burton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her second husband, three brothers, LaVern Marteney, Roy W. Marteney and Robert Dean Marteney; and a sister Mildred Gideon.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ayres–Calbeck Mortuary, 115 E. Fourth, Pratt. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 29 at the Pratt Presbyterian Church in Pratt with Rev. Stephen Wing officiating. Burial will be at Cairo Cemetery, rural Pratt County. Memorials can be made to the Pratt Presbyterian Church or to the donors choice in care of the mortuary.
