Eda Yvonne Stivers, 78, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at South Wind Hospice Home in Pratt. She was born on Jan. 21, 1935, on a farm south of Hopewell, the daughter of Harry R. Johnson and Estelle E. (Frazee) Johnson.

Yvonne graduated from Byers High School and attended Pratt Community College. On Aug. 21, 1954, she married Glen Marvin Stivers in the Byers Methodist Church. The couple moved to Hays, where Yvonne worked while Marvin completed his degree at Fort Hays State.

The fall of 1956 she and Marvin moved to Moscow, Kan., where Marvin began his teaching and coaching career. They were married for 37 years until Marvin's death June 27, 1991. Several years later, she married Ronald Eugene (Gene) Schulte. Yvonne loved and cared for Gene until he lost his battle with cancer on March 30, 1997.

Yvonne worked throughout her entire life in retail businesses and banking, but also was the Skyline School secretary in the early 1970s. She loved the students, and they fondly responded to her wise words and teasing.

Her two most important roles of wife and mother gave her the most joy. She was tireless in her effort to create a beautiful, warm and loving home for her family Those who knew her will always remember her wit, as well as her grace and generosity. No matter where she lived, from Emporia to Wichita to Colorado Springs to Pratt, Yvonne made long-lasting friends.

She is survived by a daughter Suzan (Mike) Patton of Pratt; two sons, Mike (Michelle) Stivers and Pat (Kim) Stivers, all of Pratt; seven grandchildren, Kristin (Jace) Patton-McClasky, Dustin Patton, Cody (Amanda) Stivers, Cheyann (Scott) Hull, Easton Herring, Sydney and Ivy Stivers; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Loyal (Wanda) Johnson of Dodge City, and Dean (Arlene) Johnson of Wichita; two sisters, Lois Duncan of Seguin, Texas, and Judy (Gary) Clothier of Pittsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd., Pratt, with family present between 6-7 p.m. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Monday, June 10, at the mortuary with Pastor Robin Colerick and Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetary, Pratt.
