With 66 poolsters, which is an increase even from last year’s record number, head coach Tonja Harrison’s Pratt Swim Team is once again getting ready to dive into another competitive season. Harrison will be assisted this year by Tonya Younie.
“Things are going great,” Harrison said of her squad’s early workouts. “We got off to a slow start because it was kind of cold at the beginning of summer—we’re way behind where we were at this time last year; but things are starting to heat up now.”
Returning to see if they can retain their Swimmer of the Year status in their respective age groups are Wyatt Brant, Hailey Hewatt and Corinne Donnenwerth. Other promising returners are Sidney Harrison and Morgan Strong.
Harrison is also encouraged about some new prospects as well. “Jack Barker and Jackson Baker are both in the 5-6 age group and they’re looking great so far,” Harrison observed. “We also have a trio of new 15 and up boys that I’m excited about: Dustin McGraw, Johnathan Hurt and Jacob Kiley.”
The Pratt team swims in a league with Cheney, Kingman and Cunningham with meet sites rotating among the towns. The Pratt Swim Team opens at Cheney next Tuesday June 18th. Friday June 21st and Tuesday June 25 are at Kingman.
The only home meet this season will be Friday June 28th. July 1 and July 3 the league semi-finals and league finals will be held at Cunningham.
