The Pratt Gators 12 and under baseball team went undefeated in the Grand Slam tournament sponsored by the Pratt Recreation Department.
The Gator's literally hit the ground running as they dominated the Larned Tigers in a 21-1 3rd inning run rule with Kauy Kuhn striking out 4 batters and all ten Gators scoring at least one run.
The 2nd game against the Anthony Wildcats was a much tougher game. Kaden Evert stared off with a walk and Travis Theis, Grant Bolen and Kauy Kuhn all had hits that drove in the 3 runs for the inning.
The pitching of Bolen and solid defense only allowed 1 run for the Wildcats in the 4 -1 victory by the Gators.
The first bracket play game on Sunday was with the Alva Cardinals. They were no match for the Gators in a 15-0 3rd inning run rule win with Wyatt Schrag throwing four strike outs.
This win put the Gators in the championship game against the AnthonyWildcats. The Gators drew first blood in the first inning as Travis Theis hit a line drive to the fence resulting in an inside- the-park home run.
Theis also hit a double in the 3rd inning driving in Kaden Evert who had singled and stolen 2 bases—leaving the score 2-0 Gators after 3 innings.
The Wildcats then scored 2 runs in the 4th off of 2 walks, 1 hit and 2 groundouts. In the 5th inning, both Cooper Zenger and Evert singled and scored. In the bottom of the 5th, Evert finished his pitching duties with a flyout, strikeout and groundout for the 4-2 championship win.
The Gators will resume play on June 22-23 at Green Sports Complex in the Wood Bat tournament.
