The Pratt 86ers Senior Legion team has had a belated and rather shaky start to their summer season. In their first action, a tournament in Alva last weekend, the 86ers were able to manage just one victory and missed out by a 2-run run-differential of making it into Sunday’s final rounds.
Tuesday night, they played host to the Alva Renegades at PCC and split the twin bill. After dropping the opener, the 86ers claimed the nightcap as they were ahead in an official game when approaching threatening weather brought a halt to the proceedings.
The 86ers’ season fortunes may have suffered a severe blow as Skylar Dean broke his hand during the game. “That’s really going to affect our pitching rotation,” 86ers head coach Pat Stivers said.
The Legion will try to regroup this coming weekend as they host a tournament at Pratt Community College.
